Woo, new EP! And your cat is awesome.
August 16th, 2006 at 10:08 pm e
Wow, that IS good news! I’m happy to see “I Will Wander” on there, but I don’t know if I’ve heard the last two. Does anyone know if they’ve been played out?
August 17th, 2006 at 5:34 am e
Cats and Message Boards - two things we can not live without - oh, and also - a CD with songs on it, songs by the Features. At last. It’s been almost TWO full years since I got anything not recorded live from a show. Sorry, Exhibit A, you’ve gotta stay home today.
August 17th, 2006 at 8:03 am e
yay!!!
August 17th, 2006 at 8:56 am e
This is very, very good news. I think we all need our fix.
I’ve never heard of the last two songs, but they could be re-worked versions of older songs. They’ve been doing that a lot as of late. Maybe one of them is the newest version of Stick Together/Lions Dressed in Leather… okay, probably not.
August 17th, 2006 at 9:41 am e
yessssssssssssssss!
August 17th, 2006 at 10:38 am e
Or maybe they wrote some new songs.
August 17th, 2006 at 12:34 pm e

August 17th, 2006 at 3:39 pm e

August 19th, 2006 at 9:05 pm e
Hey, that piano looks strangely familiar…
And I want the message board back!!!!
August 21st, 2006 at 12:47 pm e
YAY a new EP! Make me even happier and play in Saint Louis!!
August 22nd, 2006 at 5:27 pm e
Hi there,
I tried ordering the EP but there’s a problem with the ‘code’ part at the end. Despite repeatedly entering the correct code, it is shown as an error.
Ultimately, it doesn’t matter as I can buy the CD in a shop, but I’d rather order it online and get it ASAP.
August 23rd, 2006 at 3:54 am e
So this is something I can slip to the talent people at “The Late Show.” Niiiice.
August 23rd, 2006 at 7:14 am e
^ look at you digsy…pimpin the band…
keep it up kid!
August 24th, 2006 at 7:33 pm e
Two words: simply amazing.
August 25th, 2006 at 12:54 am e
Agreed tenfold MH! The band is sounding better than ever! Wooden Heart is simply the best song I’ve heard all year. My biggest concern is that “I will Wonder” has lost the disco feel and I don’t like the “new version” near as much- I’m hoping this is only because the key boardist is new…
August 25th, 2006 at 5:02 am e
I felt the same way. I thought they band played well together, but as expected, there were a few times when I was playing “air keyboard” where Parrish used to play something - BUT… that’s not to say the job’s not getting done now, because it is. On another point… gah, “Wooden Heart” is pure gold.

Did anyone catch the secret show in Murfreesboro last night?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3CDWm-L5T4
August 25th, 2006 at 9:51 am e
That’s what we’re talking about. It was so f-in’ hot in there.
August 25th, 2006 at 1:32 pm e
Thanks for the youtube link there Carl - talk about a quick turnaround! You know, it was easier to discuss things when we had the MB.
August 25th, 2006 at 5:42 pm e
Sorry, the “I’m so in the know I’m not going to go into detail about the secret show I went to last night” posts went right over me head. My bad. What did they play? How did Mark sound?
Just to be clear, that video wasn’t mine. I snagged it from a friend on weownthistown.net
August 25th, 2006 at 5:45 pm e
Oh, forget the “How did Mark sound?” question. I just read the post. I guess I was afraid to read it because I was afraid it was going to be offensive.
August 25th, 2006 at 6:41 pm e
Me? Offensive? I, too, would like to thank our fine Program Director for that video on YouTube - and for making the show schedule easy to read on wmts.org - the days on the left is genius. This would all be much easier in message board format, I think. Now, for the set:
- Circus
- TWIMTB
- “Intro”
- Wooden Heart (gah!)
- Million Ways
- “New” (can’t remember the title)
- Exhibit A
- Contrast
- Me & The Skirts
- Commotion
- Leave It All Behind
- Guillotine
- I Will Wander (which has lost its disco feel, Joey, I agree)
- Mosis Ptosis
- Exorcising Demons
I was expecting “Thursday” to be the last, no encore or anything, but I don’t blame them. I was hot just barely moving around - It looked like Matt was going to drown. No more controversial posts from me, Carligula, I’ll save that for “Sidelines.”
August 25th, 2006 at 8:47 pm e
Apparently I was not invited to this show. I always thought “I Will Wander” had more of a Cure feel, maybe I don’t remember it that well.
August 25th, 2006 at 10:16 pm e
Well, secret show #2 was just as remarkable as the previous night’s. The set list was nearly identical. I know everyone always says this to the point of exhaustion, but they really do sound great. Also picked up the EP… it’s every bit as amazing as I expected. “I Will Wander” has lost the disco beat on the EP as well - and that’s a shame.
August 26th, 2006 at 12:37 am e
I did not see tonight’s show. Usually, I travel with friends, but both nights, all of my friends (two people total) had to work. Gosh, I wanted to see it. Gar, looks like I’ll have to wait ’til next Wednesday. That really is a shame about “I Will Wander.” Speaking of lost treasures, has anyone heard the studio/Mahaffey version of Dark Room? It’s got an electronic-beep-type feel to it. I found it on LimeWire and was amazed.
August 26th, 2006 at 6:36 am e
Thanks for the reviews, guys.
August 26th, 2006 at 7:03 am e
that clip makes me way too happy!
August 26th, 2006 at 4:07 pm e
I thought the show at The Basement was good. From what I could tell, Mark did great, but he was way low in the mix.
August 26th, 2006 at 7:07 pm e
Did they have the EP at the basement? I didn’t even look.
August 26th, 2006 at 10:56 pm e
they kinda had it out back where the band was loading up… it wasn’t really a table or anything like that though.
August 30th, 2006 at 9:51 am e
hey, is the messageboard getting ready to go online? there’s something funky going on over there….
August 30th, 2006 at 10:30 pm e
Hey, just wanted to say the show tonight was great. There was a girl that I invited to the front row because some guy jumped in front of her like a jerk. This is to her…I didn’t really get a chance to talk to you because of of an age issue. That caused my friend and I to be relocated. Even though we were at the merch table at the same time, I still didn’t talk to you. I just wanted to say hi and tell you my name. If you read this, post a comment and I can say hi to you.
August 30th, 2006 at 10:32 pm e
Wow - tonight in Chattanooga was amazing. “Bumblebee” live! I haven’t heard it live since when, Exit/In, April 1? I think. Not sure. Anyway, How I Became The Bomb delivered - as they always do - and Mark is still doing great with those keys! I’m still not a huge fan of the Chattanooga folks - one guy peed on himself - but I guess they’ll do. They’re not too bad after all. Thanks for delivering, guys, just like you always do.
August 30th, 2006 at 11:17 pm e
MH - do you have a full setlist for chattanooga?
August 31st, 2006 at 4:11 am e
I do not. In all the excitement mid-way through the show (my friend and I were removed from the show twice for not being 21), I got distracted. Then, at the end of the show, I got sidetracked again. I got onto I-24 and I said, “Well, crap.” I don’t think anyone got a setlist last night. Sorry about that. It’s the first show I’ve been to (aside from Rcktwn, Sept. 2004) where I did not get a setlist. I might be able to contruct one - I’ll get back to ya.
August 31st, 2006 at 12:31 pm e
I don’t have a setlist, but it was pretty much the same as the one posted above, except for Bumblebee and The Idea of Growing Old, which were done in sort of stripped-down versions as an encore. Also Wooden Heart was the opener, and they did Blow it Out at some point. Liked most of the new stuff, but seriously missed a couple of old standbys like Dark Room and Thursday. Why are they not playing those anymore? Is it that Mark is still learning their older stuff, or are they just deciding to retire those songs? It would suck if they stopped playing from such a really amazing catalog. Also wish they’d bring back Gates of Hell. That was one of my favorite new ones.
August 31st, 2006 at 12:52 pm e
Thats wicked news, i cant wait to hear it. Do u have any plans to come back over to uk???? am desperate to see u guys again!!!!
August 31st, 2006 at 7:48 pm e
no big - i was just curious as to what they’re playing now in a full set
September 1st, 2006 at 6:37 pm e
Okay, at least Mosis Ptosis is still in rotation. I’ve come to accept that “Hold” will join “Damage is Done” and “Stagecoach” on the shelf, to collect dust (but it shall never lose that certain sparkle). I want to hear these new songs and, really, I can’t imagine “I Will Wander” without the funk behind it. This is troubling. I need the message board. And I need the Features in NYC. Now. Or later. Or sometime, anytime.
September 14th, 2006 at 8:24 pm e
blog…you are back!
September 16th, 2006 at 8:33 am e

Just wanted to let you know that I heard a clip of Contrast on a friend of my daughter’s myspace page and was instantly smitten. I LOVE THE SONG!! I just bought the CD and came here to see what the concert schedule looks like. Please come to either Hickory NC or Chapel Hill NC sometime soon…
November 25th, 2006 at 9:40 pm e
hey, you should probably put that dark room song on something other than just the exibit a uk disc. I love that song more that smoked salmon, that is a lot.
