New Year’s Eve show

October 10th, 2006
Us driving to Chicago...yes it will be snowing. Pack accordingly

We are happy to announce two shows opening for The Raconteurs on Dec. 30 and 31. The show on the 30th is all ages while the 31st show is 18+.

Since Christmas is fast approaching we wanted to put out a reminder that we have copies of our Christmas 7-inch available. The New Christmas Wishbook b/w The Idea of Growing Old on red vinyl will make a great gift. The song is still available on iTunes if you want to put it on your favorite Christmas compilation.

Update

July 18th, 2006

Hello everyone. This is Rollum here with a long overdue update. First of all, thanks to everyone for sticking with us and staying interested during all of the transitions as of late. I know that there’s been some speculation as to what our current situation is, so I’ll try to clear things up as much as I can.
The biggest change is that Parrish is no longer with the group. Immediately following Universal’s decision to drop us, friction within the group that had been building for some time came to a head. Everyone tried to reconcile their differences but no resolution was ever reached. We had to part ways, but we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Our new official member/keyboardist/all around good guy is Mark Bond. I plan on doing a candid interview with him sometime in the near future so everyone can get to know him. In the meantime, you can hear his fancy skills on our new songs “Contrast” and “Wooden Heart” which are both up on our Myspace page.
We’re moving forward in every way possible and should be ready to start playing some shows by late August. We’ll do our best to keep everyone updated on our situation.

Update

May 1st, 2006

This past week was one of the most difficult ever for us as a band. We had to make an incredibly hard decision that has a direct effect on our future. Earlier this week our record label offered us a chance to record a cover song for a large corporation to be used in a commercial. In addition to using the song in the commercial they wanted us to put it on our record and potentially use it as a single. We turned down the offer(knowing the probable consequences), and our record label dropped us. Needless to say, this came at a bad time since we were a week away from recording our next record. At the moment we are weighing all of our options and still plan on recording next month. We will release another record, we just are not sure with what record label. We promise to keep you up to date with new information and as always check back here for new show dates and content.

It’s official

April 23rd, 2006

The start date has been set for the 2nd full length album for The Features. We will be making our music with an accomplished enginer and producer Jacquire King and are hoping that it will be trouble free and a pleasure to make. If you would like Jacquire has a web site you can visit, check his cred, and tell him how you envision the record to be captured or what you think the last record lacked. Jacquireking.com

In other news Parrish has been playing in a band called Lylas. If you get a chance you should pick up a copy of the new release “Lessons for Lovers”. “It’s one of the best records I’ve heard this year” Matt Pelham.

On May 8th The Features will start on their next record and I’m sure they will deliver an outstanding yet audio spectacular recording that will be timeless in our hearts and minds.

Take You On (Demo)

March 1st, 2006

click to play

Here is new song #16.2. We’ve played this one live a couple of times last year but have left it off our setlist in ‘06…not for any particular reason. We recorded “Take You On” in November with the brilliant Matt Mahaffey at a studio in Nashville.

This might be the last song we put out on the blog for a little while as we are still demoing the new songs. Some of you came out to the show at Mercy Lounge and heard a song called “Lions Dressed in Leather.” Next week it could be “Lions Dressed in Pleather” or “My Aunt Likes Feathers”…who knows. Until we have final versions of our new songs we don’t want to put up anymore. But we will give out other goodies such as some behind the scenes video footage and other anomalies.

Thanks…oh, and if you live in Knoxville we are playing with The Walkmen March 9.

WRLT DJing

February 15th, 2006

Just a quick note to let the middle Tennessee folks know that a couple of us will be on WRLT Lightning 100 this Thursday from noon to 1:00 spinning some of the songs we like while taking requests. DJ Dan Buckley will be talking to us a little bit as well about the next record. WRLT is broadcasting our performance at Mercy Lounge on Saturday.

On a side note, we will be putting up another song in the next couple of days…so stay tuned!

New Shows

January 30th, 2006
Heres what I think about playing these two shows

So we are playing a couple shows in the upcoming months. We only have two to tell you about now, but hopefully there will be a lot more coming soon. The first is February 18 at the Mercy Lounge with How I Became The Bomb. The second is March 9 at Blue Cats in Knoxville, TN where we will be supporting The Walkmen.

Lars

Hey monkeys. Here’s a picture of me and Lars after we rode the lightning. The fact that this picture even exists is ridiculous.
